Coffee
Cute little cafe in Hayes Valley that serves up local Four Barrel coffee and hosts play dates and other fun activities for kids and their moms. This frog painted right next door kind of reminds me of Mark. Ha.
Five on Friday
1. Mangoes! My favorite type is the Manila mango, which actually comes from Mexico. Ha. Whatever, they’re so good. They’re the only fruit that tastes like summer to me.
2. Speaking of summer, this might be the perfect beach tote. Even the name, Mar Y Sol says it is (Ocean and Sun).
3. How awesome is this little hibachi grill from Anthropologie? I love grilling just about...

”The girl” by City and Colour
A very special friend brought this band to my attention recently. This is on their album, “Bring me your love,” and though I’ve only heard a few songs on it, I have to say, it might be one of the saddest albums I’ve heard in a long time.
There have been a lot of changes in my world...

some upcoming weekend trips i’m excited about:
Five on Friday
1. Saw this AMAZING new artist last night at the W San Francisco- Ellie Goulding. We got to meet her backstage and she might just be the sweetest thing ever. Plus her voice is killer.
2. I love everything Pamela Love does— i’m dying to add this sun cuff to my collection
3. It’s the best when my friends send me new music they think I’ll love. This amigo gets it right...
two things
Last weekend I did something I rarely seem to do these days: go shopping! Like real shopping. Like the kind of shopping that happens unexpectedly as you’re walking around your favorite neighborhood. I love that kind of shopping. These days, and I promise I was never like this before, online shopping has just become SO easy, too easy, in fact. So it was fun walking around the city, picking up...
it’s Friday, Friday gotta get down on Friday
I took a break from writing this afternoon and walked over to a set of stairs at one of the entrances to Alamo Square Park. I’ve been feeling a little down with my writing lately and I just needed to get some fresh air. I sat down on the steps and was about to take a giant bite of my tuna sandwich when I heard a series of sounds, clanking, like boards falling—and there they were: a...

new shoes, new shoes
I got these a couple of months ago when it was still rainy and gross out. So when it was finally nice enough to wear them, I was so excited! They really are the perfect wedges. I had been looking for a pair for the spring and summer and when I saw these, I knew they were coming home with me. They’re the most beautiful shade of cognac and I love how the leather just...
Five on Friday
I’m on a mission to start blogging more, so today marks the beginning of a new weekly post. Every Friday, I’ll feature five things I’m loving. Here goes…
1. The cover of this week’s New Yorker. It’s so where my head has been drifting off to these last few days, especially with all these upcoming mini-trips (reminds me: Need. To. Start. Planning.)
2. The...
fortune
I had just stepped out of my apartment yesterday evening and was walking up the street when I noticed this woman, slumped over with age, stop just a few feet in front of me. With a shawl shielding her face from the wind, she turned her head slightly and said: “You’ve got quite a pep in that step, you lucky girl.”
I slowed down and thought, how could she know? But instead said...
chile pies (& ice cream)
After dinner has been eaten and the dishes have all been washed and put away, sometimes the sweet tooth comes a-callin’ and usually, a piece of dark chocolate will satisfy. But tonight, with no more chocolate bars in the pantry to steal a piece from, we thought we’d venture out to a place we’ve been talking about going to for a very long time— Chile Pies & Ice Cream....

viva tahoe
This past weekend Mark and I took off on a last minute trip up to North Lake Tahoe with two of our really good friends Candice and Teddy. We love them and not only are they great friends of ours, turns out, they make the best travel companions too. We shared tons of laughs, great meals and made lots of fun memories. I see a few more trips with them in the near future…

Blue skies blue lake
I had forgotten just how beautiful Lake Tahoe is until this past weekend—the blue in the sky and the lake is unreal. I usually stay in South Lake but this time we headed up to Incline Village in the north which has the most amazing, panoramic views. Fortunately, we missed a crazy storm by a week and had incredible weather, but not even a bright warm sun could take the crisp chill out of the...
obsessed
On this past weekend’s trip up to North Lake Tahoe, just a look back through my photos shows how obsessed I am with Native American textiles. I mean, really. The Hyatt was decked out with all these great blankets, rugs and pillows, but my weekend essentials were also telltale signs.
My trusty mocs and my weekend Pendleton bag that holds everything
cushions galore
